Are you looking for a ride to Tuscany?
Hitchhiking is a cool and cheap way of traveling the world and it’s really fun to hear stories and adventures of travelers who are used to doing it. I have traveled alone many times, sometimes with a backpack on my back, but the truth is… I have never hitchhiked. Maybe because I am a woman and the idea of being in the middle of the street doing a hand gesture makes me feel vulnerable, maybe because in Italy people are not used to offering or requesting rides.
So what is this article about? It’s about modern hitchhiking: you go online and arrange lifts beforehand, without soliciting directly from the road. I recently subscribed to this website called Roadsharing.com. The first step is to register and this is a good thing because to use the service you must validate your e-mail address. After that you just need to search rides and arrange your trip via internet. Another interesting thing – even from the point of view of security – is that you can give and receive feedback.
And what about you? Have you ever hitchhiked before?
