A few days ago we posted a simple “poll” on Facebook in order to understand people’s wishes on how they would have liked to spend an unforgettable St. Valentine’s Day in Tuscany.
We found out some Saint Valentine’s Day nice ideas we want to share!

Terme SPA in Tuscany

Because the weather in Tuscany is quite cold during February, a hot stone massage or a log bath in a thermal pool could be the perfect “warm” deal for a couple celebrating each other.
In Tuscany we have both SPAs and natural hot springs: the Cascate del Mulino springs, near Saturnia, in Maremma, Southern Tuscany, is unique and… free!
On the other hand, if you prefer to stay in a SPA, here’s the complete list of all the thermal baths you can find in Tuscany: the only thing you have to do is choose the location!

St. Valentine’s Day in a Tuscan Village

The Borghi Toscani are small, medieval towns and villages in Tuscany. In Italy we have a lot of borghi, which are all reviewed by “The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” (I Borghi più Belli d’Italia) association. Some of the most charming Tuscan villages are:

  • Anghiari
  • Barga
  • Buonconvento
  • Castelfranco di Sopra
  • Cetona
  • Coreglia Antelminelli
  • Giglio Castello
  • Loro Ciuffenna
  • Montefioralle
  • Montescudaio
  • Pitigliano
  • Poppi
  • San Casciano dei Bagni
  • Scarperia
  • Sovana
  • Suvereto

Choose one of them, book a farmhouse or an agriturismo, rent a car from the airport to reach one of these towns and remember: they are immerged in the countryside, so they are quite far from Florence or Pisa Airport, but they are incredibly well preserved and you will have the sensation of travelling through time.
Tuscan villages are perfect to spend a romantic weekend break with your soul mate.
Try to imagine: you and him/her walking in the historical small centre with historical palaces, squares, narrow streets, old churches and towering city walls or on the top of a hill.
These hidden gems are perfect to get a taste of the real Tuscan flavours: in Tuscany you will find such a perfect and huge food diversity, with all our wines, dishes and ingredients’ variety, that you will surely find something (yummy!) you will love and remember forever, whichever town you will decide to visit. Is there anything more delicious than food to share with your beloved one? ;)

Tuscany All Time Classics

valentine's day in tuscanyOf course, you can also decide to spend St. Valentine’s Day in Pisa, Siena or all the other famous Tuscan art sites: a St. Valentine’s candle light dinner in a typical Florence restaurant overlooking the Arno river is already pretty unforgettable!
A trip to Val d’Orcia or a night in Cortona are also two all time classics that will never bore your and your sweetheart’s eyes and mouth, of course.

A similar ideal scenario could be drinking a glass of wine sitting on the walls of Lucca or a picnic under an olive tree, or in a vineyard, with great wine, cheese and company (as some people suggested on our Tuscany Facebook page), but it’s too cold for me :P
