After the summer break, the Tuscan Walking Festival returns! Check out the following meetings and excursions we chose for you, or read the complete schedule.

The Tuscan Walking festival started on September 3 with a walk from Viareggio to Torre del Lago, while the day after, the Tenuta di Tombolo hosted a guided walk through history and nature. The same walk will take place on Sunday, October 9.

September 10 at 9:30am (departure from San Rossore Visitors’ Center): guided excursion from Cascine Vecchie to the Gombo (return trip by bus).

September 11 at 9:30am: guided walk of the Tenuta di Migliarino from Bocca di Serchio to Torre del Lago; you’ll discover the wonders of the Apuane Alps and the Tuscan Archipelago. The excursion will take place again on October 16.

September 17: Considerations about World War II during a walk throughout the Lipu Oasis in the Massaciuccoli lake. Departure 9:30am, return 4:30pmNeighbourhood Hike - 5

September 18: “Tre Pini” trail, perfect for children and their parents; the walk starts at 5pm from the San Piero a Grado basilica and ends at 7pm. The same walk will takes place October 8 and 29, from 10am to 12pm.

September 24: guided walk starting at 10:30am from the WWF Oasis at Tenuta di Tombola to the old tram station in Marina di Pisa along the nature trail “via Bigattiera”. The event will be repeated on October 30.

September 25: guided walk from Cascine Vecchie to San Rossore (starting point: the San Rossore Visitors’ Center at 2:30pm, return at 6:30pm).

Celebrate the European Bird-Watching Day on October 1 with a walk from the Massaciuccoli Lake to the nearby archeological area. Departure: Massaciuccoli Oasis at 9:30am; return to the Lipu Oasis at 1:30pm.

Discover the tastes of the sea on October 2 in the “Macchia Lucchese”. Meeting point: Villa Borbone Visitors’ Center at 10am; the return is scheduled around 5pm, in order to taste sea honey and local cheeses ;)

October 15: a walk through the Roman archeological ruins of the Massaciuccoli lake area, departure from the Lipu Oasis at 9:30am, conclusion at 12pm in the Villa del Marchese Ginori’s garden. 

Walking through the beech woodsOctober 22: meeting point Villa Borbone Visitors’ Center at 4:30pm, aim: a walk under the stars in the “Macchia Lucchese”. You will walk through the woods before returning to the villa, where you’ll have the possibility to scan the sky thanks to a guided astronomical viewing at 9:30pm.

October 23: discover the fauna hidden in the bush of the Tenuta San Rossore; departure from the Visitors’ Center at 9:30am. You will surely see wild boars and deer and recognize different kind of plants in the dune region. Return by bus at 1pm to the Sterpaia where a horse show will take place at 3:30pm.
