The city of Florence has just created six new jogging paths, and plans to make three more. This initiative is called “the most beautiful jogging path in the world”, and as you can see from our photos, it really is!
This is truly great news for tourists who want to keep running while on holiday in Florence, not to mention perfect training ground for marathoners who arrive in advance of the November 29 Florence Marathon.

Lorenzo and leaves
The social media team went out on a brisk winter’s morning to check it out and take these photos for you. We also asked runners what is great about these paths. There are six paths and panoramic itineraries with differing lengths and levels of difficulty. Lorenzo says he likes that you can choose your path and you already know how long it is – 1, 2, 6 kilometers. You can also decide how hard a run you want to do, as they are marked by difficulty level.

The other aspect of the paths that runners and walkers alike appreciate is that these paths take you through areas of the historic center but primarily concentrate on the Oltrarno and the area up towards San Miniato al Monte and Piazzale Michelangelo. As anyone who has been up to the Piazzale can tell you, there’s a fantastic view from up there. Even long time residents cannot help but sigh and say “ah! Firenze” when we pass by.
