But that’s only part of the 150 years celebrations!

Between Piazza Beccaria and Borgo la Croce, crossing through Borgo degli Albizi and Via del Corso and ending in Piazza della Repubblica, a “tricoloured path” will be set in the three colors that distinguish the Italian flag,  shops and bars will be decorated with the colours of the Italian flag and in all of Florence’s main squares there will be a variety of events.

In Santa Croce‘s square there will be live music and theatre pieces dedicated to the Italian language, in the Duomo Square there will be a handicrafts market and in Piazza della Signoria there will be a stage with shows dedicated to Italian art.
Around midnight, the Mayor of the city of Florence Matteo Renzi, will hang a brand new italian flag (a gift from the President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano) on the roof of The Maggio Fiorentino Threatre.

Moreover on that same night there will be an opening cerimony for the new lighting system of Palazzo Pitti “a project meant to emphasize the façade of the building, keeping context and  environment under consideration”.
