The Pecci Center for Contemporary Art in Prato (8km out of Florence) knows that we like to drink and play around our contemporary art. The current exhibitions, a solo exhibit of work by Paolo Canevari and new acquisitions from Gianni Pettena, are open until August 1st.
This summer they are proposing the following fun activities and late night openings:
For moms and tots
Every monday in June and July (starting 07/06/2010) from 17:30 to 19:30, parents can relax at the bar with an aperitivo while kids will be taken care of (play and learn) inside the exhibition. Reservation required – max 20 children aged 4-14. Free.
Late night at the museum
Every Wednesday (starting 09/06/2010) open from 19-23, guided tour at 21, and late night opening. Free.
Of particular note, the famous italian DJ Albertino (or Radio DJ) will be spinning discs at the Pecci on Thursday July 1, starting at 10pm. Free.

And what else is there to do in Prato? It’s close to Florence and has quite an interesting history as well as good shopping – check out this flickr gallery of Prato composed by my colleague Barbara from AroundTuscany.
