Wine, truffles, chestnuts, porcini mushrooms and figs are some of the pleasures of the Tuscan table every fall. This autumn there are many different festivals around the region that celebrate these traditional dishes and local products. Here is a short list of the most important events.

2012 Wine Town
Wine Town is the most important show dedicated to Tuscan wine in the region. The theme of the 2012 edition is the number ‘3’, the number of perfection. There are three neighbourhoods involved, along with 15 buildings in the centre of Florence. And there are three very good reasons for coming to the festival: music, entertainment and, of course, wine.

2012 Expo Rurale Toscana
The 2012 edition gives a 360-degree glimpse on the rural world. The event takes place over 6 hectares in open air space and 5,500 square-meters of covered space in the Cascine Park in Florence.

Mugello: the Festival of Chestnuts
For four Sundays, Marradi celebrates the “king of autumn” with local specialities made with chestnuts, performing musicians and street artists. On Sunday September 21st, it is possible to reach Marradi on a traditional steam engine (Trenonatura) from the city of Pistoia.

2012 White Truffle Fair
San Miniato (Pisa) gears up to host the annual White Truffle Fair in San Miniato. The Tuber Magnatum Pico (the white truffle’s Latin name) is generally considered the “king” of truffles. It’s easy to pay homage to this regal tuber as there is an enormous variety of dishes that feature it.
