Ferragosto it’s also an occasion to celebrate the local cusine of some specific areas in Tuscany. The best way to celebrate tuscan local specialities is through a “sagra”: the open space feast dedicated to a special dish where people can enjoy a meal with a lot of different people!
The Sagra della bistecca celebrates Tuscany’s famous Chianina steak. It’s held every year in Cortona. Don’t miss a visit to the art and antiques market in Montepulciano featuring stands with local products and more. Forte dei Marmi also has an antiques market featuring precious wares.
On August 14, the Polvere e tarli in piazza in Abbadia San Salvatore (Siena), the historic center hosts a fair with traditional agricultural products, antiques and collector’s items. The same day also features the Mercatino delle crete naturali in Asciano (Siena), the Mercatino dell’artigianato and antiquariato in Barga (Lucca), “Memorandia” in Anghiari (Arezzo) and “Hobby Senio” in Palazzuolo sul Senio.
Those looking to taste something truly different need to look no further than the “Ranocchiata” frog festival in Badia Tedalda on Sunday, August 14. Delicacies, games, dances, live music and more.
