For people who love truffles… September and October are hot months in Tuscany! 
Loads of “sagre del tartufo” -truffle festivals- throughout Tuscany and attract foodies, gourmets or simply truffle enthusiasts from all over the region and the rest of Italy.
One of the most famous truffle feasts is “Tartufo Torna” in Volterra, near Pisa.

8am-9am: contest enrollment (truffle excavation with special truffle dogs)
10am: white truffle market opening and truffle hunting contest opening
12,30pm: white truffle-based lunch
4pm: white truffle excavation contest prize-giving
8pm – special dinner with white truffles and edible boletus (porcini) mushrooms
