The Grand Tour of Chianti

A bike ride through villages and landscapes, discovering the fodd and wine tradition of the territory

The place of departure - and later on, arrival - is Castelnuovo Berardenga, a picturesque location where the original techniques of wine production and preservation are still preserved. Stage after stage, the bike route passes through villages in the Chianti area of Siena, immersed in nature and history. We are in the heart of a unique territory, guardian of the most authentic Tuscan lifestyle.

From the scenic stone streets of Castellina in Chianti you can enjoy the breath-taking views given by the rolling hills. The bike ride then continues through sunflower fields, farms, vineyards and wineries. It passes through the territories of Radda in Chianti – capital of the “historic” Chianti – and Gaiole in Chianti, where you can admire spectacular medieval villages, neat vineyards and precious olive groves.

A Grand Tour that takes place entirely along good roads with low vehicle traffic, to be experienced therefore intensifying the balance between relaxation and excitement, visions and flavors, in a land where time seems to have stopped.

For those who wish to enjoy it in one gulp, the route is of average difficulty but should not be underestimated at all as, like wine, it is best to take it in small doses to avoid falling to the ground intoxicated with fatigue.

As a matter of fact, to travel the fully paved, well-maintained, low-vehicle traffic roads of Chianti means being willing to "eat and drink" from every point of view: cycling, food and wine.

It would be a shame not to take advantage of it to fully enjoy the beauty of the landscapes, ancient villages, castles, small churches and farms.

Therefore, the right recipe is the balance that can be struck between the pleasant fatigue of riding slowly and with your head held high and discovering the place where you can simply stop to rest or enjoy a nice bean soup washed down by some good red wine.
