Spring fills the city with the colors of flowers, with many flower fairs spread to many countries in Tuscany.
Among the many initiatives include the Market Exhibition of Azalea, a trade show of azaleas, rhododendrons and other flowers on the Serchio Valley, on Borgo Mozzano along the historic center of town over the weekend of April 15, 16.,17 2011. Attention will be given 18 Azalea cultivars from local nurseries and marked with the “Azalea of the Devil,” a brand that distinguishes the uniqueness, botany characterization and certified origin. A major novelty is the “Maté Garden Festival.” The old town has been chosen as the setting for temporary gardens. These spaces will represent the landscape and the possible interpretations of urban environments, the panoramic views and glimpses into a campaign often urbanized, and follow up the visit of squares, streets, buildings the village by introducing a “third dimension,” the aesthetics of the garden.
In Lucca, instead, there will be an exhibition of flowers and cakes from Santa Zita, from April 22 to 29 2011, to commemorate the anniversary of the death of Santa Zita, the saint of flowers and Patron Saint of Lucca. The flowers are a very important episode in the life of Santa Zita. It is said that the girl, a maid at the rich family from Fatinelli, was surprised by the Master hidden in her apron while carrying food to the poor. In the face of his repeated requests, saying she lied in her apron to bring flowers and plants and showing the content appeared very flowers and plants. For the occasion, bouquets of daffodils are offered, a sweet herbal tradition.
