Hydrospeeding on the Lima River

Chase rapids along this Pistoia waterway

Hydrospeeding is a vivacious adventure sport that uses a special kind of body board that allows users to ride the rapids of a river or torrent. It is unadvisable to go hydrospeeding on narrow and shallow rivers: this is why the Doria Batea is an ideal location to practice this extreme sport.

The only requirement is that hydrospeeders know how to swim and are comfortable with water because hydrospeeds descend ‘into’ rivers and don’t ride along them. The body board is specifically designed for this sport. Hydrospeeder must use flippers and wear a wetsuit, a helmet and safety vest. Once these are had, the adventure begins!

This sport is ideal for beginners that know how to swim because they can alternate between rough rapids and calmer waters. Guides teach beginners how to become expert hydrospeeders.
