Monsummano Terme is famous for its centuries-old thermal baths and for its bi-annual fair dedicated to chocolate, called Cioccolosità. For years, artisan chocolate-makers have flocked here, to the “Tuscan Chocolate Valley”, to display their sweet creations. American journalists have nicknamed the area between Pistoia, Pisa and Prato as “Tuscany’s chocolate valley” for the high concentration of artisan chocolate producers here.
The renowned chocolate fair is organized by the municipality of Monsummano Terme, Slow Food Valdinievole and Slow Food Toscana. Every 2 years visitors can enjoy three full days of chocolate-inspired activities—from tastings to chocolate-based beauty treatments. Full-body massages with white chocolate are highly energizing, as are the thermal body and face scrubs using chocolate and cocoa.
Meanwhile, chocolate tastings are the focus of the initiative, “The art of tasting”. It is tourist package for those who want to take part in the highly sensorial experience of a chocolate tasting. The event includes wine and liquor tastings, lessons on how to use chocolate in cooking, a dinner at the hotel and participation in the eighth edition of “The drink of the Gods” contest, in which bartenders try their hand at mixing the best chocolate cocktail.
