Carnival in Viareggio is almost here!

The world economic crisis, personalities from Italian and international politics, and stars from showbiz and fashion--everyone from Obama to Michael Jackson. Viareggio Carnival 2010 takes on today's hottest themes. Immense moving  works of art, as much as 20 metres high, created by magicians in the art of papier machè, provoke reflection on the ills of modern society: racism, environmental pollution, material consumption, violence against women, but also the desire for rebirth of this city, wounded by unprecedented loss of life.
An open-air theatre along three kilometres where 11 first category constructions, 6 second category, 11 group masquerades and 9 isolated masquerades display their creativity. A record-breaking "runway" along the Viareggio promenade with five parades organized for this year: January 31 and February 1, 14, 16m 21.
