From the saline beds deposited by the Tyrrhenian Sea during the slow formation of the Apuo-Versiliese Riviera, flows from a 90 metre deep well, in the heart of the park, a precious mineral water rich in sodium, bromine and iodine salts, known as Undulna in honour of the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio. The thermal water is used with the therapeutic peat from Lake Massaciuccoli, made famous by the Maestro Giacomo Puccini. The peat, unique in Italy, is the result of the transformation of vegetable deposits over thousands of years during the formation of the lake. Detailed studies have proved the high therapeutic value of the peat which, together with thermal spa water, is used for baths, compresses and facial masks. This peat is also recommended for the treatment of dermatological disorders such as psoriasis, acne, seborrhoea dermatitis etc. In addition, the peat helps the skin recover elasticity, softness and favours circulation.
