Discover the beauties of our region by walking along the route of the ancient Via Francigena. This is the goal of the "International Day of Francigeni Walks", now in its fourth year, which is scheduled for May 6 and which includes meetings and walks in Garfagnana, Monteriggioni and Aulla, where there will be a remembrance walk for the people affected by the flood last Fall in Lunigiana.
The event is organized by Councilman Pier Paolo Tognocchi (PD) and Franco Alessandri, from the Association of Pilgrims and co-founder of the Walking Network, a union of associaions that came up with the idea for the international day of walking.
Tognocchi says: "The Francigena route is important to many people, especially young people, who enjoy walking, who bring vitality to the event and who are eager to explore themselves and their limits. Our goal is to create a real "highway" of sustainable tourism: on foot, by bike, on horseback. We want everyone to enjoy these marvellous routes."
