Well-known to the attentive and cultured traveler, the white roads in the Siena countryside are one of the area’s lesser-known attractions.
They penetrate the landscape, winding through green pastures in the summer and red and orange pastures in the autumn. They cut through the Sienese Crete, in the Val d’Orcia, to pass through a variety of golden wheat fields, chestnut woods and olive groves. On Siena’s white roads, travelers are sure to encounter herds of sheep, cows and other wild animals native to the area.
The stradebianche project aims to promote these forgotten roads through the La Compagnia Toscana dell’ Enduro initiative, a group of motorcycle aficionados from Montepulciano and Sarteano who organize outings and rides on the white roads, stopping every so often for wine and food tastings. Groups are composed of 5 or 6 participants.
Thanks to its location near the white roads, the Tenuta di Spineto often offers accommodations, and organizes wine and gastronomical events for motorcyclists. It is also located close to Monte Cetona (1,148m) and Monte Amiata.
Several itineraries and road maps are contained in the “Road Book”.
