Dolcemente Pisa: the most greedy event of the year

The 1-2 October a sweet weekend to the Leopolda Station

Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October the city of the Leaning Tower will host the finest Tuscan pastries: a unique chance to taste true homemade products and see the sights, visit medieval villages and charming landscapes.

Dolcemente is an important showcase for the workshops that made Tuscany one of the main European centres of high-quality artisan pastries. The event has a popular aim, in line with the vocation of Pisa, a city of knowledge which is the site of important scientific istitutions.

Dolcemente is a refined and complete event oriented to the protection and development of typical products which are usually not found in ordinary commercial channels.

The theme of the 4th edition is the sweet side of Italy: on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, Dolcemente will host a selection of craftsmen from other Italian regions.

The 2011 programme contains six different sections: exhibition area, guided tastings, Pastry School, Dolcemente Junior, Discovering Pisa, art and entertaiment.

The Leopolda Historic Hall will accommodate the craftsmen in a charming setup completely built of cardboard, in line with the philosophy of ecological recycling.

As a visitor, you will be accompanied in the tastings by the craftsmen, so they can explain the features of their work and listen to your opinion.

Thanks to the collaboration with the International Relations Office, Dolcemente will host also craftsmen coming from Pisa's European sister cities, allowing you to appreciate new flavours and get to know the history and traditions of other European countries.

The Conventions Hall will accommodate the guided tastings: a chance to experience mixed flavours of chocolate and cakes, together with wine and spirits.

After the positive experience of 2010, dedicated to the application of science in cooking, this year two prestigious realities will take part in the event: the Gualtiero Marchesi Foundation and the cooking school La Cucina Italiana, which will give lessons and pastry workshops.

For our youngest guests the Leopolda has prepared games and creative workshops in the section Dolcemente Junior, with the help of the Ludoteca Leopolda Junior and Mukki.

Dolcemente also involves the city centre with two special moments: the boat cruises along the river Arno, with tastings of hot De Bondt chocholate, and the Passeggiata Pasticciata, a walk through the workshops and the artistic and historical beauties of the city of Pisa.

Finally, the 2011 edition features the photo contest Tempting Shot, promoted with the Imago Association, the contest Panforte Throw, the performances on huge sweets Sweet Melodies and other shows organized by the cultural associations of the city.

Opening hours:
Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October, 10.00am to 09.00pm

Admission: € 5,00; admission free for children up to 13 and seniors over 70
