Now that spring is in full swing, the Province of Pistoia has coordinated a public opening of the Ecomuseo della Montagna Pistoiese ('The Ecomuseum of the Pistoian Mountains'), which is a partly open-air museum. It's the perfect chance to enjoy the beautiful Tuscan weather!
There are six different thematic areas covered by the museum, which include: nature, ice, iron, religious art and popular piety, stone and everyday life.
During the 2011 edition of "Amico Museo," which is scheduled from April 30 to May 15, there will be free events, including guided tours with workshops and demonstrations of ancient crafts at the Museum of Rivoreta, Sunday, May 8 and Sunday, May 15 at the Palazzo Achilli.
The Palazzo Achilli, will screen various movies and offer a unique experience in which visitors can listen to the sounds of the forest. There will also be two exhibitions: one on "Monumental Trees" and the other on "Biodiversity linked to the world of insects," both of which are suitable for all ages.
If you are looking for something fun to do on the weekends this spring, why not head to Pistoia and enjoy the Ecomuseum? Beginning April 2 the Museo della Gente dell'Appennino Pistoiese di Rivoreta, will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 10.30-12.30 and 16.00-18.00. La Ferriera Sabatini di Pracchia, il Museo Diocesano d'Arte Sacra di Popiglio and il Punto Informativo Centrale di Palazzo Achilli a Gavinana are also open on Saturday and Sunday from 16.00-19.00.
