The Menicone Mill was part of the Palazzaccio farm, today known as Torre degli Onesti, which is a sixteenth century villa owned by the Orsetti counts from Lucca.
It is the only mill in the area around Pescaglia which is still working today. It was originally built in the seventeenth century and the main structure hasn’t been altered since. It was in use until the 1980s and today has become a monument to the old farming methods and technologies of the past. The wooden gears date back to the nineteenth century and the mill still has its original mill stones. Many historic working tools are on display.
The Amici del Molino (Friends of the Mill) Association organise educational visits and activities on site.
