The church of Santa Maria in Figline dates back to the thirteenth century. It became a collegiate church at the end of fifteenth century and underwent significant alterations and restoration work in the following centuries. Today, it is home to numerous important works of art. The collection housed here comes from the church itself and is on display in two rooms which can be reached through the sacristy. The collection is complimented by the works of art kept inside the collegiate church, such as the fourteenth century painting of the Madonna with Child by a member of the Giotto school known as the Maestro of Figline. There is also a statue of San Giuseppe by Andrea della Robbia. Also worthy of note are the two paintings of angels by Domenico Ghirlandaio and the 1590 Martyrdom of San Lorenzo by Ludovico Cigoli.
