Approximately 3 kilometres from Vinci in the locality of Anchiano, visitors can find the native home of Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo was born on April 15, 1452, in this colonial house located amid the open country-side. It testifies to ancient traditions and has been amply mentioned by historian Emanuele Repetti. Today, the building—now a free museum—continues to be nestled in surroundings that are very similar to those that saw the development of Tuscany’s most famed genius. Inside the museum, visitors will enjoy a permanent didactic exhibit which includes reproductions of scenery drawings and a map of the Valdarno, drawn by Leonardo himself.
