Walking through the thick vegetation of the San Silvestro Archeological-Mineral Park, you'll come across numerous paths that pay tribute to the Tuscany's ancient archaeological and mineralogical past, present and future. At the entrance of the park, visitors can admire the centuries-old Temperino Mine, used in both Etruscan and modern times, or they can turn onto Via delle Ferruzze to see the ruins of a mining railway bridge from the early 1900s, the Etruscan mine Buca della Faina and other wells, mines and caves.
Travelling along Via dei Lanzi you'll arrive at Rocca San Silvestro, a medieval village of miners: in the castle there are still old ovens that were used to bake bread, olive oil presses, workshops, homes and nobble villas. After passing the Valle dei Manienti, which features ancient mining ruins and marble quarries from the Middle Ages, you will enter the are oaf the 'Etruscan Mines', built in the early 1900s. On the way to Campiglia Marittima, you will walk along Via delle Fonti, which takes the name of the ancient aqueduct, which until a few years ago still provided water to the city of Campiglia Marittima.
Inside the park, visitors can also find the Mineralogical and Archeological Museum, which features materials that were used in the mines of Rocca di San Silvestro as well as a collection of minerals from the surrounding area. Since July 2006, a train takes visitors through the mines to the Valle dei Lanzi, which overlooks the Rocca di San Silvestro. Visitors can also visit the Miners Museum and the Mining Machines Museum in Pozzo Earle.
