Punta Falcone and Sterpaia Nature Parks

Features an astronomical observatory and museum

Punta Falcone Park, set between the Gulfs of Salivoli and Cala Moresca (entrance to the Baratti-Populonia park), offers routes of natural and historical interest. The Park, dense with vegetation where colonies of seagulls and cormorants live, is bordered by the Piombino promontory. An enchanting trail through Spiaggia Lunga, Cala San Quirico and Buca delle Fate leads to the Gulf of Baratti. An astronomical observatory and a small museum on World War II are situated at its highest point. Sterpaia Coastal Park is a valuable, rare wet forest, typical of the old Maremma coastal landscape, home to centuries-old plants and small fauna. Sand dunes separate the forest of ash and oak from long, white sand
