There’s a tiny shop on Mount Amiata which looks like it’s fallen straight out of a Dickens novel. It’s so crammed with stuff that at first it’s difficult to see what it sells, although a closer inspection reveals that it is full with typical food products from Tuscany and the Amiata region.
It’s one of two Pinzi Pinzuti stores (both on Via Cavour) which sells local biological goods direct to customers. In one store it’s possible to taste some excellent wines from Montepulciano and Amiata (DOC and DOCG)and in the other it’s possible to find delicious food like Amiata mushrooms, cheese from Pienza, Pinzi Pinzuti and Val d’Orcia olive oil, Cinta Senese cold cuts as well as grappa, honey, cereals, sweets, pasta, soups, spices, teas and other small objects for the house such as gnomes and Christmas cards. The person who reigns over this old-fashioned shop of delicious delights is the owner, Marcella.
Marcella’s real artistic side comes out though when she gift wraps for customers. She creates real works of art, all with seasonal themes. She doesn’t limit her creative abilities just to gift wrapping though. She also created the farmer puppets that sit outside the shop and many other small works of art that make this a truly wonderful place to visit.
