History and Landscape - Brunello di Montalcino is the most renowned enological treasure in an area that boasts a long wine-making tradition. Already appreciated in centuries past, wine production in this area of Tuscany is still made with the same traditional processes as the years of yore. It was only in the late 1800s that the first enological experiments were carried out to test the true quality of the wines made in the area. In these last few decades, together with the licensing of the DOCG certification (the first Italian wine received it in 1980), Brunello production has been further refined to create a wine that is of great quality and international acclaim. Brunello is so loved that even the biggest stars of Hollywood are known to drink it with great pleasure.
Vines - Brunello of Montalcino is made from 100 percent Sangiovese grapes. The vines produce almost 80 quintals per hectare. According to DOCG regulations, Brunello wines cannot be put not he market until after five years since its production.
