Mount Argentario, Ansonica wine

A prestigious light wine complimenting seafood dishes

Ansonica wine from Argentario’s coast is produced just inland and south of the province of Grosseto, in an area characterised by its beautiful hills.

The decision to award this wine with the prestigious DOC certificate shows how far wine producing in the Maremma region has come. In fact, the whole area has seen something of an explosion in wine making in the last few years.

Nonetheless, wine has been made along this stretch of coast line for centuries. The first wine was made here in Etruscan times. The tradition has grown and grown over the centuries, as proved by many accounts by fifteenth century travellers who complemented the area’s light, aromatic and delicious wines.
Ansonica goes particularly well with seafood dishes. It is made from Ansonica grapes, one of the most typical varieties grown in southern Tuscany and it’s made in the Argentario region near Orbetello, Capalbio and Manciano.
