Description:

The village of Colonnata is nestled among the marble quarries of the Apuane Alps and is traditionally associated with the miners of the white Carrara marble.

Colonnata is famous for its “lardo di Colonnata” a seasoned, aged lard which is one of the most characteristic products of the Massa Carrara region. Prepared according to tradition, it is seasoned using exclusively local wild herbs and is aged inside a white Carrara marble basin.

In August the annual Festival of Lardo di Colonnata takes place to celebrate the end of the aging process.

The fee includes:
- 3 nights accommodation with breakfast in a double room in a 2 star hotel on the Apuane Coast in the month of May

- 1 tasting of local products at a Carrara farm

- 1 dinner at the Osùteria della Pià in Colonnata

- Visit to the Marble Quarries of Carrara

- Visit to a marble workshop

- 1 bottle of Candia wine and “lardo di colonnata” chocolates as a welcome gift in rooms

- daily newspaper of choice delivered to your room

- 1 entrance to the Museum of Marble, Carrara

- Shopping card Massa Carrara

The fee does not include:

Transportation services, tips, beverages, extras, and anything not listed under the section titled “The fee includes”

 

There is the possibility to rent a car for three days

In the case of cancellation written notice must be given to the associated offices no later than 5 days before the departure in order to receive a 50% refund of the fees paid.
