The Bisenzio valley lies between Mount Calvana and the Appenine forest. It is a territory rich in tradition thanks to its settlement by the ancient Romans.
The area boasted numerous castles at one time (in Fossato, Luicciana and Codilupo), though few of them remain intact. Rocca di Vernio and Rocca di Cerbaia can still be visited.
