Prato, ACSI, cultural committee
An organisation dedicated to organising sports and leisure activities
The A.C.S.I.’s main activity is to organise initiatives and events in sport, tourism, music, dance, culture and free time in general. The A.C.S.I., which stands for Association of Italian Sports Centres, is an association of societies and clubs that extends over the whole of Italy. The A.C.S.I. network is responsible for stimulating, promoting, studying, supporting clubs and activities to do with sport, tourism, music, dance, culture and free time in general. These are the main areas the committee works: poetry, narrative, theatre, painting, sculpture, cinema, photography, philately, numismatics, folklore, dance.
The sports activities involve almost all branches of sport, concerning not only young people but also adults. A.C.S.I. membership also works in practical ways: it provides insurance and can also request licences from the local council for business activities, including that of selling alcoholic drinks, food and various products to its members. There are tax-breaks for its members. For example societies don’t pay municipal tax on shop signs and also have 50% discount on public bill posting. Likewise they are exempt from ‘tax on ‘non-commercial’ activities.
