2013 marks the return of rides on a steam train

Treno Natura
Historical wagons reminiscent of days gone by coupled with the discovery of ancient foods and traditions and beautiful landscapes: these are just some of the things you can enjoy while riding, at a slow pace, on the Nature Train in Terre di Siena.

In light of the huge success of past editions, the Nature Train returns again this year to take tourists on an journey to explore one the most beautiful areas in the world. With a full calendar of events, visitors to the Terre di Siena are sure to have some great photos and memories to take home. Just think: the train is a means of transport, but it is also, with its historic wagons, like taking a time machine back into the past!

Over the years, Tuscany has worked to encourage fun examples of “slow tourism” - from cycling and equestrian activities to rides on Italy's historical railways - which have met with increasing success. But, it is also an undeniably great feeling when you climb aboard the carriage of a vintage steam train, like the ones our fathers and grandfathers used, accompanied by a symphony of whistles, squeaks, pistons and “chu chu” sounds!

There are several unusual yet exciting itineraries that will give visitors the chance to enjoy the beauty of the local landscape. Visitors can get off at romantic, historic stations and venture around small towns, churches, villages and castles in the area. During rides, they can enjoy wine tastings on a farm or in wine cellars or participate in local fairs and festivals. And finally, they can also enjoy the Tuscan countryside, not only through the windows of the wagons, but by fully experiencing the culture, gastronomy, art and folklore thanks to the many events.
