Skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing in the white-covered woods

The Monte Amiata Ski Area, nestled in the largest beech forest in Europe, offers 10 km of Alpine skiing, with 8 ski lifts that can be used with the Skipass Amiata, and 10.5 km of Nordic skiing, half of which are constantly being groomed. But the Amiata is more than just ski paths for lovers of heart-racing drops, with cross-country skiing and trails for snow-shoeing also on offer.

The Marsiliana-Macinaie cross-country route unfolds through the splendid beech forest of Pian della Marsilian in Cantore. The first two kilometres are mostly flat with slight ups and downs, perfect for both beginners and skilled skiers, and can be traversed using either the classic technique or the skating technique. Connected to this circuit is another one that brings riders close to Prato delle Macinaie. The Macinaie loop is a continuous succession of brief but rapid ups and downs with quick descents, suitable for skiers who possess a good level of technique.

The snow-shoeing excursions can be done either during the day or at night, and the routes vary based on the number of participants and their difficulty. The night excursions are a must, lasting between 90 minutes and 3 hours, and for those who love adventure, a trip through the beech forest is included.

The Snow Park Macinaie is also in operation, comprising a 4-meter jump, a 6-meter rail box, a 3-meter + 3-meter kink box, 1 jersey, 1 pole jam + a 1.5-meter jump, a 6-meter hand rail with a double pipe for those who love to snowboard and perform acrobatic tricks safely and without creating problems for other skiers on the trails.
