In the crete sea of val d'Orcia
Special trekking excursion in the most beautiful season of the year
This route will allow us to carry out a real full immersion in the heart of the Crete between Monticchiello and Pienza, a natural amphitheater and UNESCO landscape heritage.
We will start from the medieval village of Monticchiello located in the heart of the Val d'Orcia, we will observe its characteristic architecture, such as the Parish Church of Saints Leonardo and Christopher and the Torre del Cassero, before immersing ourselves in the famous landscape of Crete. The green of the season will give us the impression of walking in a sea without borders.
We will travel along the less traveled paths and closely observe the world-famous landscape for its undulations, farms, rows of cypresses and scenic biancane. We will explore the iconic street of Terrapille, famous for being the set of the film "Gladiator". Along the way we will be able to admire some of the most famous and spectacular views in the world, until we reach the suggestive Pieve di Corsignano.
From here we will continue our journey towards Pienza. The area surrounding Pienza is characterized by hills that extend endlessly, creating the impression of being in a real living painting. We will admire the Cathedral of S. Maria Assunta and Palazzo Piccolomini and Borgia.
Finally after a short break we will set off again towards Monticchiello. Once in the Tresa valley we will visit the hole of the blessed benincasa, a hermit cave of limestone origin which will reserve for us the last of the many emotions of this day.
The tour will take place on Sunday 5 May 2024 with departure at 9.00.

Cancellation
and no-show policies
The guide reserves the right to make changes to the hike to ensure the safety of the group, or to cancel the hike in case of bad weather and/or alertness.
The excursion will be confirmed upon reaching a minimum of 8 people and a maximum of 25 people.
