For 50 years, the exhibition of contemporary Italian art set up in the Horti Leonini

Forme nel Verde (Shapes in Green) is the contemporary art exhibition born in 1971 from an intuition of Mario Guidotti, a collector, art lover and connoisseur of modern and contemporary art. It was the first exhibition in Italy to propose visions of Land Art, that form of art in which sculpture interacts with space and landscape, in this case the Horti Leonini, an example of a 16th-century Italian garden, and other places and monuments in San Quirico d'Orcia.

In over fifty years of history, the greatest masters of Italian and international art, such as Arnaldo Pomodoro, Costantino Nivola, Pietro Cascella, Mirella Forlivesi, Lorenzo Guadagnucci have exhibited their works here; but also Manzù, Alessandro Tagliolini, Carmelo Cappello, Matthew Spender, Michelangelo Pistoletto up to Maurizio Cattelan.

Now at the historic milestone of 53 editions, the event will host from July 20 to November 3 a rich and heterogeneous program among the highest forms of Art: from sculpture to ceramics and video installations. Also in this edition there is no lack of a special focus on the historical artistic tradition of San Quirico d'Orcia, as well as considerable space for the artistic expressions of young artists from the Academies of Fine Arts, including the Academy of Carrara, Bologna, Brera and Florence.

The places involved in this edition are Horti Leonini, Piazza della Libertà, Piazza Chigi, Palazzo Chigi Zondadari and Bagno Vignoni.

Opening: Saturday, July 20, Piazza della Libertà.
